MLB - LA Dodgers v Philadelphia Phillies
13 August 2008

Philadelphia (64-55) at LA Dodgers (60-59)
Wednesday, 8/13/2008 10:10 PM JOE BLANTON (R) vs. BRAD PENNY (R)
Today I took the Dodgers for the second time in a row against the Phillies and in both of them, I succeeded, however yesterday I had some luck, as the bullpen of Philadelphia couldn't secure the lead they had and allowed 2 runs in the last 2 innings of the game. For today I think the advantage is one the side of the Phillies and I think they will win today. In such a close series, it's details which make the difference and today the matchup of the pitchers gives an edge to the Phillies.
Philadelphia will send Joe Blanton (6-12, 4.71 ERA), who since he joined the team, he isn't the same pitcher he was playing for the A's. He has been amazing in his last 3 outings, with just 1.69 ERA and 0.812 WHIP. In his last game against the Pirates, he hasn't allowed any run, even though his team ended up losing by 0-2.
On the other side, the Dodgers will send Brad Penny, who will make his second game after he came from the DL. In the first game of Penny, even though he had a win against the Giants, where he allowed 1 run in 5IP, the truth is that he showed he was still rusty, rarely surpassing 90 mhp with his fastball and he hasn't managed to get any strikeout!
Against a much more powerful offense than the Giants, Penny will surely struggle today. The Phillies will come fired up today and I remember they are 19-9 against the money line in road games with double revenge 2 straight losses against opponent over the last 2 seasons and with a favorable matchup for the Phillies, I think we have a value bet in here.

What makes a bet ?
I’ve often wondered how other guys decide whether to bet or not. I know personally that there are no strict adhereances that I abide by ( there should be……but there isn’t), and I just wondered how you guys out there make a bet, and what makes you bet the amount that you do.
I generally like [...]
