Jupiler League - Excelsior v Stormvogels Telstar
Although a lot of good names departed from their squad, Excelsior managed to bring some good names fom the division standards. Not strengthen enough like the other promotion candicates, but at least their acquisitions are acceptable for the division and their target. Maybe we should wait some more about their perfomance, but this pick is actually against Stormvogels who weakened a lot. The players who departed from Excelsior after the relegation are Daniel Guijo-Velasco (Helmond Sport), Kees Luyckx (AZ Alkmaar), Jorg van Nieuwenhuijzen (Heracles), Mitchell Pique (ADO Den Haag), Sieme Zijm (FC Emmen), Jos van Nieuwstadt (Doncaster Rovers), Damiƫn Hertog (Karriereende), Ronald Graafland (Vitesse) and Geert den Ouden (de Graafschap). The players who joined Excelsior are Mathijs Benard (KVV Westlandia), Ard van Peppen (de Graafschap), Rogier Veenstra (NAC Breda), Levi Risamasu (AGOVV), Erwin Mulder (Feyenoord) and Hanne Hagary (Feyenoord II). Most important are Veenstra and Mulder.
To the other side, Telstar was the absolute silence during the summer, as too few moves was done, they weakened a lot as only 2 professional players came, Nicandro Breeveld (Omniworld) and Joona Toivio (AZ Alkmaar II) and one amateur from FC Lisse, Glynor Plet. The departures were important players, Raydell Kewal (released), Arec Sarac (released), Job Bulters (MVV Maastricht), Jordy van Wijk (released), Geoffrey Galata (TOP Oss), turk Ilhan Demirci (released), Brahim Aoulad-Lfadil (released), Jan Bruin (released) and Marcio Junqeira (released).
Excelsior will miss Eldridge Rojer and Leen van Steensel while Adnan Alisic and Robert Braber are questionable. Telstar will miss Martijn van Strien (injured).
It is maybe still early to bet on Excelsior, as the other promotion candicates are stronger at the moment, but against a mediocre Telstar last season, who weakened a lot during summer, Excelsior can start the season with all three points.
