Jupiler League - Venlo v Go Ahead Eagles
Their coach Jan van Dijk decided to make a big clearup to the squad. Nordin Amrabat (PSV), Siebe Blondelle (Dender), Raymond van Driel (released), Maico Gerritsen (released), Robin Janssen (released), Peter Jungschläger (De Graafschap), Ekrem Kahya (ADO Den Haag), Edwin Linssen (Roda JC), Jason East (De Graafschap) and Karim Soltani (ADO Den Haag) are all past for the team. All the gaps were filled with the acquisitions of Kevin Dessel (Sint Truiden), Marnix Kolder (FC Groningen), Frank van Kouwen (Roda JC) and Ruben Chess (BV Veendam). Also 3 players promoted from the young team (Soufian Dadda, Rico Kuijpers, Rob Kuijpers). Their preseason preparation was good organised as they didn't have any injuries and gained very good results from the friendlies played. For today's game they have no absentees and will field the best possible eleven.
To the other side Go Ahead Eagles attacted some famous players from Jupiler league, but also lost some important units. Jordy Zuidam (FC Zwolle), Jeffrey Vlug (Sparta Rotterdam), Remko Pasveer (Heracles Almelo), Dave Bus (Den Bosch) and former VVV-Venlo player Frank Broers (FC Emmen) are the new faces to their roster, while Sjoerd Ars, Patrick Ax, Rik Platvoet, Melchior Schoenmakers and Orlando Smeekes was released. All in all they have almost the same strength like last season, where they finished 10th. The problem is that today they will miss a couple of important players. Frank Broers, Robbert Maruanaya and the injured Kevin Moeliker, Marco Parnela and Jordy Zuidam are all of the squad! Their attacking options are limited for today, as both of their main strikers listed above as injuries.
VVV Venlo won all of their 4 meetings at home against Go Ahead Eagles during the last 5 years.
Venlo VVV Go Ahead Eagles Deventer 2:1
Venlo VVV Go Ahead Eagles Deventer 3:0
Venlo VVV Go Ahead Eagles Deventer 1:0
Venlo VVV Go Ahead Eagles Deventer 4:3
Venlo is capable to start the new season with a three pointer against a side who starts the season with important missings.
