Manawatu Southland
A weekend of upsets opened the NPC for this season with 4 of the 7 games resulted in boilover wins for the Underedogs,Northland beat Waikato,Counties beat Auckland, the Bay beat Tasman and the biggest right next to Counties win was Manawatu over the Mighty Canterbury ,this week the Turbos play the Stags and I think the Stags will bring them back down to earth.
Manawatu had quite a few very lucky phases in their game last week and it also helped that Canterbury were very rusty and loked it,pases going to ground and the like of which you don't see much in the hands of players with the Canterbury Red and Black on often were happening all over the place, credit to manawatu though as unlike Canterbury when the Chance came they took it and fully derserved that win,but can they repeat that this week,I doubt whether luck will be that kind two weeks in a row.
The Stags were sunk by a last second penalty by Otago last week and lost by 2 points but they played well the men for Otago were well up for the game itsekf and had most of the running in the game before the Stags mounted a great comeback and really had the game before losing it.
The Stags trounced the Turbos last seasn but that was in Southland thisgame is being played in manawatu.
This gae could swing either way on the betting front,I don't think that Manawatu will win this game but i am loathed to say take the Stags by 12 or less because these teams will be entering this game with different mindsets, the Stags will be upset by losing that game last week when it was all but won and I think will go about trying to win this game early or perhaps finishing the stronger while for the Turbis they will be over the moon with last weeks result and who knows what those guys have been up to all wekk,so one happy side vs one unhappy side,I have to go with the unhappy side here.
The Stags have a good team and will likely make a good game of this, the Turbos have good players in patches but nothing like what Southland have both in the forwards and backs,Take the Stags to get home by 12 or less if you like but I am not tosure whether to or not,I think the Stags could win this by a few and because of that i'll take the -4.5 and have a dabble on the 12 or less also...Good Luck.
