MLB - Seattle Mariners v Minnesota Twins
6 August 2008

Minnesota (62-51) at Seattle (44-69)
Wednesday, 8/6/2008 4:40 PM NICK BLACKBURN (R) vs. JARROD WASHBURN (L)
The Twins must somehow feel a frustrated team, after all they entered this series leading their division, which they failed time after time to reach that and then they blew two leads against the Mariners and are now trying to escape from an unexpected sweep.
Today they send to the mound Nick Blackburn 3.56 ERA 1.261 WHIP 8-6 and they expect that Blackburn could keep up the good momentum after his last outing. Blackburn after an awful start against the Yankees just to bounce back and made two quality starts in a row in the following two games against the Indians where he allowed 2 runs and 10 hits in 14 Innings. Also it's important to refer that in this season Blackburn has been great during day games: only 1.80 ERA 3-1.
On the other side the Mariners will turn to Jarrod Washburn 4.77 ERA 5-10. Washburn lately hasn't been consistent, alternating good outings with non quality starts, the Mariners are 1-3 in the last 4 games of Washburn. In the last game he showed tremendous problems to face the Orioles, giving up 6 runs and an awful mark of 20.6 P/IP, besides that the Mariners are 1-6 in Washburn's last 7 starts as a home underdog.
I think the Twins have a great spot today, the Mariners are bellow their capacity during day games: 3.8 runs/game (vs 4.2 runs/game in night games) and the Twins are a great team lately facing southpaws pitchers as Washburn with a record 13-3 in their last 16 games vs. a left-handed starter, also Blackburn is 4-0 for the Twins being favored by the oddmakers. Take the Twins today

What makes a bet ?
I’ve often wondered how other guys decide whether to bet or not. I know personally that there are no strict adhereances that I abide by ( there should be……but there isn’t), and I just wondered how you guys out there make a bet, and what makes you bet the amount that you do.
I generally like [...]
