WOMENS SHOT PUT WINNER - 2008 BEIJING OLYMPICS
It's almost time People as we get set for the Olympics and I am sure that many of you will have favs of your own to win certain events at this Years Olympics as I do.
For each of us it is a chance to watch a range of Sports we might not otherwise get to watch that much and as we will all have a vested intrest in how our Athletes from our Countrys perform there is nothing better than having something on an even to really make it worthwhile,I can only imagine how many Olympic Bets we might be taken with and the Admins of our site might have to open a special page for them all as I am sure many of you will want to have a wager or two on more than one of the up comming events,I know I will, but I will post on this one now and might post on a couple of Rowing events as well as the BMX racing new to the Olympics this year,Get ready people as our best Athletes from each of our Countrys strive for the one thing that they get up for every morning and go hard while the rest of us sleep and slog their guts out for the Chance to proudly represent our Countrys in the hope of standing atop the World in their chosen events and wearing a Gold Medal around their necks.
With the Olympics comes expectation, hope and courage as Athletes raise the bar to new levels to show that the years of training have finally paid off, these Athletes although many do not play Sports we all have a huge intrest in will get our attention for a limited period of time and deserve our Admiration for their Determination and will to win in the most anticipated Sports event every 4 years, the winners will wear smiles while the Losers will cry tears,Years of training comes down to a Moment and which Athletes can grab that moment and take it away from the others, who can perform for that moment is the Key and for us at Home that moment will happen as we hold our breath and hope that OUR Athlete is the one who can grab that moment and win the Gold Medal.
The Womens Shot Put has some good names in it this year but two stand alone at the top of the list..Nadzeya Ostapchuck and Vallerie Vili along with 2 other Belarussian Opponents Mikhnevich and Karolchyk - Pravalinskaya who will likey battle it our for the Gold Medal.
Ostapchuk is the best in the World this year and has thrown a massive 20.98 in Minsk on the 27th of July, she was closeley folowed by Mikhnevich who threw 20.70 at the same event, the third of the Belarussian Shot Putters is Karolchyk - Pravalinskaya who is in the squad mainly because of her winning this event at the 2000 Olympics but on this season is not throwing anywhere near what the other girls are throwing.
Another worth noting is Nadine Kleinert of Germany who threw a seasons best 19..89 and was also the Silver Medal winner at the last games.
The rest of the field are all good throwers but none can match the over 20 meter mark that the top 3 women can get to and so i think there are 3 possible winners for this event,a New Zealander and two Ladies from Belarus,Geuss which one i'm going for.
Right now Vallerie is the World Champion as she won it in Osaka last year besting Ostapchuk with a throw of 20.54,not as big as what Ostapchuk has throwen this season but it all comes down to on the day though does'nt it.
Vallerie is the youngest ever Womens Shot Put Champion and has been off the radar for a while now since winning that World Title, but she has been training the house down and is well capable as any of the Top 3 Women are of winning this event,Ostapchuk is favoured as she has had a good throw this year and is a hard compeittor, she only fell to Valerie by 0.02 in the World Champs and willl be looking for revenge especially after also losing to Vili in the Indoor Champs as well, and also of all these Ladies only Vili has thrown in the "Birds Nest" when she was invited to a Chinese event in which she won earlier this year.
All in all it comes down to on the day and there are 3 possible winners for this event,I've seen Valerie around as she trains at Mt Smart which is right next to the Warriors training ground and she is always at the games on the weekends and I must say she is looking great and is very much her normal happy self, she is great with kids and is always polite and very nice to everytone, although I doubt you'd want to piss her off,she is massive.
Valerie is the youngest ever World Champ and she is pretty much in the prime of her life,I think she might be able to get a bit more out of herself and I think she will win us a Gold Medal,it will be tough but I think she can do it....Take Valerie Vili to win the Gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.....Go Hard Valerie....Go hard New Zealand,Good Luck for the Games.
