The Warriors are running out of chances to make a push on the Top 8 and this match loms large for them, while the Broncos although still not playing that great in my eyes are winning and are still hunting for a Top 4 Berth that is very unlikely.
Not many games here in NZ draw as much attention than this one, while the Melbourne Storm are without doubt the benchmark and are widely accepted as such here in NZ ,the Brisbane Broncos are the real challenge, the Broncos have been the team to beat for the last 20 years and over here this is the game that most of us sit and wait for a chance to get over the Mighty Broncos, this is the game we expect the Warriors to play their best in and for the Palyers in recent times it is the same thing,For us over here the Broncos not the Storm are the benchmark and we expect the Warriors to stand up against the Might of the Broncos.
The Warriors will get Mc'Kinnion for this match which is a plus but demotes Hohia who has ben far and away the warriors best player this season, they also have Vatuvei in again this week and pretty much have theirbest possible line up on the field for this game, the halves are'nt the best but that is not where I expect the warriors to play this match, the Warriors will spread the ball on the 3rd tackle onwards and will look to get over the Broncos in the forwards, that is not an easy task but the Warriors can do it and have already shown that they can in recent times and especially when they are playing at Mt Smart, the Warriors lost last week and these next two games which both are at home are huge for them, they play the Broncos this week and the Sharks next week, both games that the Warriors will have to play to their peak to win,of both of those games this is the one I give them the most hope of winning.
The Broncos have won their last 3 games against the Cowboys,Sharks and Raiders but could be without Hodges this weekend depending on a Judicary hearing that is till yet to take place, but all in all I still have my doubts over the Broncos, they have 3 quality lay makers in Lockyer,Wallace and Ennis but really they have been lucky in recent games, they have been outstanding in defence but have really gotten some luck, the Cowboys almost ran them down 3 weeks ago and thre Sharks had chnces to beat them also but could'nt get the job done and last week the Raiders completley bombed 4 try scoring chances early inthe second half that could of seen the Raiders in front and they would of been hard to run down,The Broncos are getting the best out of Carroll,Ennis and Thaiday but are still yet to really get the best out of Lockyer imparticular, this match should be a good one as both forward packs should cancel each other out which will mean it is up to the backlines to make the difference and if that is the case I do think that there are certain players in this Warriors side who can and probaly will take it to the Broncos, most notably Ropati,Tate and Vatuvei.
Recent results and the Warriors have won 3 of the most recent 5 games and in Auckland the Warriors have won 4 of the last 5,the last 4 all under 12 points.
This game is a very even affair with the Broncos not playing this game in Brisbane,as I have already said this is the game that the Warriors look forward to and see it as a defining game for them in their seasons in recent times,it really is a bit of a toss up but I know that the warriors were not happy after last weekes loss and are loking forward to this game, look for tate to have a blinder and look for the warriors to win in a close one....Good Luck.
