MLB - St. Louis Cardinals v Philadelphia Phillies
1 August 2008

Today Cardinals and Philies began a series between them and being both teams so close of the top of their divisions this could be a important series
Philadelphia comes to this game in a 5 game winning streak, although I could be consider this fact as normal because they swept the Nationals in their last series which is a normal end as the Nationals lately can’t beat anyone.
Today they will send to the mount the Southpaw Cole Hamels 3.27 ERA 9-6 who has been perform a good season. The main reason for this season is because Hamels has been awesome on the road: 3.53 ERA 1.04 WHIP and an impressive record of 4-1. But it’s important to say that he’s currently in a “mini slump” as he can’t grab a win in the last 4 games allowing a minimum of 2 runs in each game
In the other side the Cardinals will send to the mount Kyle Lhose 3.68 ERA 12-3 who is doing a spectacular season. Lhose at home is the same impressive: 6-1 and 2.79 ERA. After the All Star he had 2 outings vs Brewers at home and Mets on the road, in both of them the Cardinals loss but was against Mets that Lhose had a bad exhibition allowing 7 runs and 11 hits in 5 innings, but I think that game was a isolate bad performance, the Cardinal’s manager agree with that: "even Sinatra cleared his throat once in a while."
The fact is that when Lhose had such a bad performance he immediately bounced back in the next game, he suffered 5 runs at Detroit than in home home against the Mets he allowed only 1 run in 7 innings.
The Philes are the favorites today, but I believe that the Cardinals have the material to sneak this game, the attacks resurged against Atlanta and I expect a bounce back by Lhose today.

What makes a bet ?
I’ve often wondered how other guys decide whether to bet or not. I know personally that there are no strict adhereances that I abide by ( there should be……but there isn’t), and I just wondered how you guys out there make a bet, and what makes you bet the amount that you do.
I generally like [...]
