MLB - Milwaukee Brewers v Chicago Cubs
Thursday, 7/31/2008 2:05 PM RICH HARDEN vs. DAVE BUSH
Milwaukee failed to take the lead on their division, by losing again yesterday against the Cubs and they have now saw the Cubs getting away from them, having now a four games lead over the Brewers. Today they have again the chance of coming closer and do not being swept. For that, the Brewers are going to send David Bush (5-8, 4.51 ERA), who has been much better at home with 4-2, 2.85 ERA and 0.995 WHIP. Lately Bush has helped a lot the team, as he is in great shape and in the last three outings he is 1-0, 2.14 ERA and 0.762 WHIP. The Brewers have won their last four games where Bush was their SP and today he will come motivated, as he has a bad record against the Cubs (1-6) and this is his best chance to bounce back against them.
On the other, Rick Harden (5-2, 2.10 ERA) will be the choice for the Cubs and he has been doing a nice season too. His numbers on the road aren't that good as his home numbers, but they are good: 3-2, 2.72 ERA and 1.109 WHIP. However Harden is still looking for his first win with the Cubs since he came from Oakland. In his 3 starts with his new team, he did quite well (1.04 ERA, 0.923 WHIP), but he didn't have the run support he deserved. The pitchers duel will be way closer than the prices show it. The Brewers at +132 are great, as the Milwaukee in home day games are 14-7, while the Cubs are 7-11 in road day games. The Brewers have won 6 of their last 7 games as home dogs and Bush is 10-1 against the money line as a home underdog of +100 or higher over the last 3 seasons. In a game where it should be really close, I'll take the dog in here. In the two previous games I took the Cubs, but this time I'll take the Brewers.

Thursday, 7/31/2008 7:10 PM JORGE DE LA ROSA vs. ANIBAL SANCHEZ
The Marlins begin today a series against the Rockies with a lot of rumors about acquisitions and the most important one is Manny Ramirez from the Red Sox. Until what point will the team be able to forget about all these rumors and continue their great season? Today they will send Anibal Sanchez, which will make his return this season and so, his today's performance is unpredictable. The Marlins are coming from a 2-1 series win against the Mets and they aren't that far away from the top of the NL East division.
On the other side, the Rockies after two losses in a row against the Pirates have now managed to get a win yesterday, continuing their good run which began right after the All Star break ended. Today they will send the Southpaw De La Rosa (5-5, 6.20 ERA), who has been a disaster on the road (1-4, 6.43 ERA, 1.607 WHIP), however he has managed to have two quality games on his last two starts and coincidence or not, he is coming from a road win over the Reds. Actually he has played in 13 innings in his last two starts and he has just allowed 2 runs and 9 hits. Even though this good moment, De La Rosa hasn't been consistent and today there is a risk of a letdown, as the team he has defeated in the last two games are weak vs LHP and he could have helped from that. Already this season De La Rosa faced the Marlins and won by 12-6, where in 5 IP, he has allowed 3 runs and 6 hits. This game is a 50/50 one. Sanchez is unpredictable right now and De La Rosa, even in a good phase can easily have a letdown today.
