MLB - Cleveland Indians v Detroit Tigers
Detroit will send Nate Robertson (6-8, 5.63 ERA), who hasn't been doing a great season and lately he hasn't been great neither. He is just 0-1 and 8.81 ERA on his last 3 outings and the team has lost these 3 games with him. It's obvious there is an huge pitching mismatch in here, however I like the way the offense of Detroit has been playing recently. After a shutout in the first game of this series, the team bounced back yesterday with 8 runs and 14 hits! If we forget the 0-5 of the first game against Cleveland, the Tigers have been doing at least 10 hits per game recently! The good news for Detroit is that Lee is a left hander and the Tigers are 20-8 vs LHP this season and 12-3 in road games with 5.4 runs per game. And I remember the Tigers are 25-30 on the road this season! The only way Detroit will be capable of winning today will be with a great offensive performances and with the way the team has been playing and how they have showed in other games this season, they can do it, making this price of +139 being too good to pass.
MLB PREVIEW:
CHI WHITE SOX (59 - 46) at MINNESOTA (59 - 47)
Wednesday, 7/30/2008 8:10 PM GAVIN FLOYD (R) vs. LIVAN HERNANDEZ (R)
Minnesota can finally reach the first place of their division for the first time in two months, if they defeat today the White Sox. The team is 2-0 in this series against their rivals and today they can finally get back the place they have been fighting for. For that, the Twins will send Livan Hernandez (10-7, 5.31 ERA), who has been very good at home with 8-1 and 3.91 ERA. However, Hernandez has been inconsistent lately and in his last three starts, he is just 1-2 and 6.05 ERA with defeats against Boston and Cleveland. Actually he has been alternating wins with losses in his last 6 starts.
On the other side, the White Sox will send Gavin Floys (10-6, 3.57 ERA) and who hasn't been consistent lately. On his last 3 outings, he is 0-2, 6.13 ERA and 2.113 WHIP and he isn't 0-3 because the bullpen of the Tigers offered the game to the White Sox. He has already played three times against the Twins this season and he showed two different faces. One at home where he won both games and he has just allowed 3 runs and the other on the road, where he lost by 1-3. With two pitchers so inconsistent it's hard for me to decide who's going to win. Honestly, any team can win today and there are much better value on some other games of the day.
