Ive written up the 1st semi-final, so what the hell i will write up the 2nd one!! especially as i fancy the underdogs.
The 2nd Semi reads like a 'whos who!!' (Durham) Vs a 'whos he??' (middlesex) The Durham line up is packed full of International cricketers, Collingwood, Harmison.S, Mustard, Plunkett who have all represented England could play, add to that Chanderpaul Benkenstein and Di Venuto and its quite an impressive line up.
Middlesex without any real big names are a good 1day unit, Strauss (there most recognised name) wont be playing, Shah will be and exciting youngster Malan could be a key player and in Kartik and Udal they have 2 good spinners who could put the squeeze on Durham.
While the Durham team looks very strong ive always had reservations about there bowling. Harmison and Plunkett always have the potential to spray it all over the place and in Breese they dont have the greatest slow bowler around. They bat down to 'jack' which is ideal for Twenty20 cricket and going by there last 2 1day outings they need to, 66/6 and 49/4 has put pressure on the lower and order and shows the top order aint in that greater nick.
Middlesex won 8 of 10 group matches, a group that included the other Semi finalists (Kent and Essex) its a much tougher group than Durham had so they shouldnt be dismissed here.
I will take the unknown names at Middlesex to cause and upset here against Durham at 2.30 which looks about right on paper.
