ATP - David Ferrer v Richard Gasquet
Typical match between the lazy talented player against the hard working not so talented player. And just like it happens in 90% of these matches, the hard working one ends up always getting the win, as Ferrer leads the head to head by 3-0 with wins by 6-4 6-2, 6-1 6-2 and 6-1 6-1. I've watched Ferrer's match against Ginepri yesterday and I was impressed. His forehand is as solid as it was in last season's US Open and his baseline consistence is unbelievable, which makes inconsistent players go nuts against him. Ferrer served extremely well against Ginepri and he hasn't allowed a single break point during the whole match, winning the match comfortably by 6-4 6-4.
Gasquet continues with his roller coaster matches, as in the first round he was up 6-2 *3-2 and found himself trailing 6-2 4-6 *0-1 15-40, just to win the third set by 6-3. Then in the second round he was a break down in the first set against a player out of Top 250, until he unconvincingly won by 7-5 6-3. The French player is playing a little bit better than he was a couple of months ago, but his form is still too bad to actually defeat a Top 5 player like Ferrer. The Spanish takes every match seriously and he will once again make Gasquet self-destruct by return every ball until the French player commits a silly error. Gasquet is lacking confidence and he can only have a chance to beat Ferrer on a fast surface, when he is on good form and being extremely consistent in the baseline. Neither is happening right now and Ferrer should have little problems in beating him again. Take Ferrer minus the games. DOUBLE DIME PLAY.
