ATP - Alex Kudryavtsev v Philipp Kohlschreiber
Alexander Kudryavtsev may not be very known, but that doesn't mean automatically he's bad. He is 28-18 this season and he is clearly a player suited for fast surfaces. He has reached the final qualifying round in both Australian Open and Wimbledon and he has achieved wins over good players like Nicolas Devilder, Igor Kunitsyn, Christophe Rochus, Prakash Armitraj, Gilles Muller and Paul Capdeville. He has passed the qualifying in here without dropping a set and that has given him a lot of confidence to play today's match where he is the clear underdog against Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Talking about Kohlschreiber, if there is something it defines him it's his inconsistence. You never know what you can expect from him and he lacks the ability of being capable of playing a whole match with at the same level. He loses his concentration out of nowhere and that's why he loses a good number of matches, where he actually had a comfortable lead. Saying that, it's obvious that he is the clear favorite to win in here, however a game spread of 5,5 games is a lot and it would be needed a really good performance by the German player with him being 100% focused the whole match and that's something he won't be capable to do, especially against a player out of the Top 250. Kohlschreiber isn't also a fan of playing in North America, as he is 6-11 on his last 17 matches playing on this continent. Kudryavtsev has a good serve and with no pressure and with Kohlschreiber not being used to the surface, as he hasn't played in hardcourt since Miami, I can see the Russian player making him close enough to cover the game spread. Take Kudryavtsev plus the games in here.
