MLB - Seattle Mariners v Cleveland Indians
19 July 2008
Preview By Tipster E_Underdog (Holland)
First game for both teams after the All Star Break, Cleveland is last in AL Central and Seattle is last in AL West.
Seattle's starting pitcher for tonight is no one else than Felix Hernandez, who recovered from a small injury. Hernandez is 6-6 for the season with an ERA of 2.95 and over one hundered strike outs. Seattle are 19-27 (.413) for the season at home, but they are 3-3 for the season when Hernandez starts (3.65 ERA).
Cleveland starter Aaron Laffey is 5-5 for the season with an ERA of 3.45. Cleveland are 14-31 (.311) on the road this season, Laffey is 0-2 on away games this season with an 5.76 ERA. During those 2 away games Laffey pitched 29.2 innings, where he walked 12 batters while strucking out 15 (This compared with Hernandez 23 BB and 58 SO).
I expect this to be a very close game, with both teams trying to climb from the last spot in the division. But I think this game will be dicided by the 2 starting pitchers, and Seattle have the edge on that. The home team have the advantage in most stat catagories, but just slightly. If Hernandez can show just a little bit of what he can do like he did in the start of the season, this bet is won (Or if he hits another grand slam ofcourse! ;-) Conclusion, the Mariners to start the series against the Indians with a win.
