Even if the ranking says the opposite, Ram should have been the favorite in here. The American player is currently on a 6 match winning streak and with his great serve and powerful strokes, he is like fish on the water on an hardcourt surface like this one. That's how he prevailed in the first round against Newport's winner Fabrice Santoro by 7-6 6-4. He is extremely confident on his game and with the support of the crowd, I expect him to once again playing at his best today.

On the other side, Yen-Hsun Lu is a player that really needs confidence on himself in order to play well and I don't know where he can find confidence for today's game. He is 1-4 on his last 5 games and his only win was in the first round of this tournament against a player out of Top 500 and Lu only won by 7-6 7-6. And if that wasn't enough, in the doubles draw he lost in the first round by 6-0 6-0, which was another humiliating moment which surely killed his confidence a little bit more. He is extremely inconsistent and he has been terrible in the past months and not even on hardcourt he seems to be improving. On the other side, Ram is playing his best tennis in a while and I expect him to prevail in here.
