ATP - Paul Capdeville v Joseph Sirianni
Paul Capdeville showed that he is back on track by taking out Robby Ginepri in the first round by 6-4 6-2. No matter how badly he was playing, when it comes to the Summer hardcourt tournaments in North Americana, Capdeville can really step it up and play some great tennis. Even though he doesn't have a great serve, he is an amazing returner and he can easily break some big serves, as it was proved when Capdeville broke Ginepri's serve six out of the nine times the American player served. He is also a very good baseliner, with no major weapons but with a very good consistence on his game, which allows him to take advantage of almost every chance he has on his matches.
Joseph Sirianni began the season very well with a semi final in Adelaide, but after that he enter a six games losing streak, which puts him with a record of 17-21 in 2008, including several losses against players out of Top 250, like Josselin Ouanna, Jasper Smit, David Marrero, Martin Verkerk, Victor Crivoi, Jean-Rene Lisnard and Prakash Amritraj. This will be just the second time Sirianni will be on a second round of an ATP tournament outside Australia and the first time it was this season in Queen's, where he was destroyed by Karlovic by 6-3 6-2. Sirianni took advantage of Ledovskikh's retirement due to an injury, when the Australian was trailing in the second round and already in the qualifying, Sirianni struggled to beat Bass, who is just the number 494 of the world, barely winning by 2-6 7-5 6-0. The Australian player isn't the same player outside his home country, while Capdeville is motivated now and he is known for playing his best on these Summer North American tournaments, where last season he had a 7-2 run, only losing against Karlovic in a third set tie-break and Federer in the US Open. With both player having a similar style of play, Capdeville's more consistent game and experience at this level will give him the necessary edge to comfortably advance to the quarter finals in here. Take Capdeville minus the games.
