I wonder if yesterday's defeat of Stosur is the main reason why this spread is so short. Stosur lost in the final round of the qualifying against Wozniak, but when the match started, everybody knew Davenport had withdrawn, so Stosur knew she was in the main draw, even if she lost her match. She ended up losing the match, but today she will perform much better, as she knows that if she loses today, she's out of the tournament. The Australian player is one of the best servers in the world and she is actually one of the few female players who can serves aces against male players in mixed doubles matches. She is a former Top 30 player and only an injury sent her out of the Top 100. She's a great player on fast surfaces and she has shown on grass that she is coming closer to her best form.

She's going to face Anastasia Rodionova, who is currently on a 7 game losing streak. Rodionova is a really mentally weak player, who behaves terrible on court when she starts losing. She easily gives up of matches where she can't win and that's why she loses so many sets by 6-0 or 6-1. That's why in this seven game losing streak, she has lost 3 sets by 6-0 and 3 sets by 6-1. This is the kind of thing which will help Stosur to cover the spread today. With Stosur serving well and Rodionova struggling a lot to put her serve at least in play, the result can be ugly in here. Stosur is looking for some easy points to get back into the Top 50 and this is the type of match which can offer these points to her. Rodionova is a player of streaks (amazing on good form, unbelievably bad on terrible form, with no average performances whatsoever) and she will need a much easier match to end her losing streak. Against a player like Stosur, I don't see Rodionova even coming close to win this match. Take Stosur minus the games in here.
