ATP - Martin Del Potro v Richard Gasquet
13 July 2008

I think today's final in Stuttgart will be the most interesting from all finals this week. No. 15 in ATP ranking, seeded as no. 2, 22 years old French man Richard Gasquet will stand against this tournament 'Black Horse'. Young but very talented, 19 years old Argentinian Juan Martin Del Porto. In some past previews I wrote that this boy if will release from injuries will be real threat for top of ATP. And everything is showing that he is healthy and in right form to achieve biggest success in his short career - first ATP tittle. Tall with great technique for clay surface like all Argentinians poses and he proved with his game and beating very good opponents here that Richard Gasquet will poses big problems with this youngster. Del Porto eliminated on his road Korolev, Bolelli, Kohlschreiber and Schwank. Lost only one set against Bolelli and let his opponents very few times to break-points situations. He holds his first serve very well achieving around 80-90% points won. Sadly he hit only half of balls and on second serve his effectiveness is worse because only about 50-65% points won from that. Also his youngster imagination sometimes rushes too much and that's why he do few double faults, but still his general game is very good, nice to watch and effective. Not much unforced errors, well movement and using his arm range nicely (190cm tall). Result with such good clay courters like Bolelli, Korolev and Schwank and also with Kohlschreiber who is always dangerous on all surfaces show that Del Porto deserves to be in final and looking at Gasquet performance tittle is in his range. Richard Gasquet in this tournament had much easier opponents and still he faced more problems than Del Porto. Rosol, Montanes and Calleri. Rosol in spite he is two class weaker than Richard he was able to win in first set tie-break but after that Richard started to play properly and smashed Czech player 6:2, 6:2. Still when someone like Rosol is breaking Gasquet three times in match I think it is too much. Montanes pushed French man a little, but didn't poses enough strenght to finish. Eight break chances and used only one, Gasquet saved himself with 12 aces, but still he is risking too many times giving such opponents so many break chances. Calleri is average clay player and he performed better years ago but still he also was able to bite a set from 15'th player of ATP, even when Gasquet had strong leading in first set. Augustin had his chances but still Gasquet presented the best game in this tour, serving 10 aces and holding nice and equal serve with around 70+75% points won from first and around 65% from second. Gasquet is playing more mature tennis and he is more experienced, he poses better second serve but let's his opponent to too many break point chances. I think French didn't rebuild his form yet after returning from awful knee injury and he isn't ready for this final. Especially if Del Porto will play like against Kohlschreiber. He had easy opponents and still faced problems. Del Porto already proved his value and it won't be easy but tittle is in range. I think Del Porto with a little luck is able to win this tittle. Good Luck!

What makes a bet ?
I’ve often wondered how other guys decide whether to bet or not. I know personally that there are no strict adhereances that I abide by ( there should be……but there isn’t), and I just wondered how you guys out there make a bet, and what makes you bet the amount that you do.
I generally like [...]
