Aston Villa Midlands Masters Winners
If im honest this is something of a novelty market, Nevertheless, 3 bookies have priced it up and with information and squad news available on the internet we wont be coming into this with our eyes completely closed.
The Masters brings together some great older footballers and its lovely so see them still enjoying there football, they all still want to win mind you!!!! Its split into 8 regions and already we have seen Middlesboro, Bristol City, Tranmere and Rangers progress to the 'Grand Final'
Its live on Skysports tonight so if im going to be watching it im gonna be wanting a punt on it. The Midlands section is made up of Wolves, Aston Villa, WBA, Birmingham, Coventry and Walsall, with it being played in 2 round robin groups, Group A :Coventry Aston Villa and Birmingham. Group B :Walsall, WBA and Wolves.
Having looked at the squads (subject to change) of course, you see lots of ex-pros in there early 40s and players i remember from my youth (im old 34) who i grew up watching and admiring, Dean Saunders to name but 1. Garry Parker is there too, a player who broke the hearts of so many Bristol City supporters back in 1988.....i think it was!!!
Having looked through the squads of the competing sides the Aston Villa squad stands out to me as looking pretty strong: Dale Belford - Mark Kinsella - Ian Taylor - Shaun Teale - Hassan Kachloul - David Norton - Garry Parker - Martin Carruthers - Dean Saunders. They have some good players there who aren't a million miles out of pro football and must have a decent chance of winning it tonight.
Aston Villa to win the 'Midlands Masters' @4.50 looks a decent fun bet for me tonight.
