MLB - New York Yankees v Boston Red Sox

Every time I out a tip on here on the MLB it bombs,there are a number of games of intrest today,I bet where ever I am even here in Australia and insted od taking one of the easier games i've decided to have a go at the big game for today between the Yankees and the Red Sox.

The America League East is very intriguing this season with the Perenial underdogs the Rays eating up everyone at the moment including the Red Sox,the All Star break is almost upon us and bot the Yankees and Red Sox are looking for some momentum before the break,this series has been good with the Red Sox bouncing back after being swept by the Rays to win the first two games in New York before just going down yesterday to them,the Yankees were saved yeaterday by an outstanding effort by Riveira who got into a real jam yesterday but escaped and gave the Yankees a win,tonights game is a big one with the Yankees looking to get on even footing in this series while the Sox will be looking to go 6-3 against the Yankees on the season,the Yankees will be going with Chamberlan and the Sox are going with Wakefield.

Tim Wakefield 5-6,3.72 era is up for the Red Sox tonight and he has been good in recent times but has not been geting any run support,hopefully that will change tonight.Wakefields last start was a good one going 7 strong innings but taking the loss 1-3 against the Rays,Wakefields last 3 starts he has only 1 win and has numbers of 1-2 with an era of 1.71,Wakefield has not been throwing badly but he has not recieved any support at all,in his last 7 starts he has gone 7 or more innings and in only one game has he allowed more than 5 hits and only once has he alowed more than 2 runs but support wise he has not recieved more than 2 runs and in 4 of those most recent starts the Bullpen has given up the runs that lost the game not him,on the road in this sequence of starts for Wakefield he is 1-3 but he has been in every single game and the Red Sox hitters have just let him down,i'm thinking he might be able to get some support today.Career wise and it's not good for Wakefield who is 9-16 with an era of 5.03.

Chamberlin 2-2,2.22 era is up for the Yankees today and although highly spoken of this by far is his biggest start as he is on the mound at Yankee Stadium in the National Televised Match of the Day and is facing their biggest rival the Boston Red Sox.Chamberlins last start was a short one in which he went only 4 innings and gave up 5 hits for 2 earned runs on which the Yankees lost the game 2-3 against the Rangers,Chamberlins last 3 games have resulted in two Yankee wins and a loss his numbers in that span are 1-0 with an era of 1.65.I think Chamberlin is a great prospect but I also think this game has alot on it not just for him but for the Yankee Organisation and the pressure might just get to him,Chamberlin is averging 3 walks per game and his numbers and results are not as clear cut as some might think,Chamberlin was given a good stretch in Interleague play and that is where most of his sucess has come,Games that he has started the Yankees have won 4 and lost 2,but his wins came in Interleague play as he won all 3 of his starts in that span of games,against the American League however and Chamberlin is 1-2 and against the AL East he is 0-1,when facing the AL League he has lost to the Blue Jays 3-9(L),Royals 6-3(W) and the Rangers 2-3(L).Career wise against the Red Sox and he only faced them for 4 innings giving up 4hits for 1 earned run and 2 walsk.

Alot of the Yankee hitters have faced off against Wakefield before but the ones with great sucess against him are'nt the people you might think,Damon has excellent numbers against him but Damon is out,A - Rod is hitting .265 and is 18-68,Abreau is 6-19 with 2 doubles,Jeter is 28-90 with 3 home runs and Giambi is by far the worst going 15-82,the best of the Yankee hitters against Wakefield is Cano who is hitting career against Wakefield .310 and is 9-29 with 3 doublkes and 2 home runs.

The Red Sox have seen little of Chaberlin and only a few hitters have faced him so expect a slow first time through from the Red Sox,only 2 hitters have any sort of stas against Chamerlin and they are Pedoria 1-2 with a double and Lowell who is 2-2 with a hom run.

I just think that the Yankees really got lucky yesterday and with Chamberlin on the mound tonight and alot of pressure on him that he might not go to well,Wakefield has ben good but has not been getting any support and although they were kept quiet yesterday they were still in that game and had a chance to win it,I'm looking forward to sitting in my Hotel room tomorrow morning and watching this game and I think that the Red Sox will get by Chamberlin in the biggest night of his young Career...Good Luck.
