The Eels who got by the Storm last week have a chance to rack up another win today if they can get past the Panthers who drew which is almost impossible to do last week with the Broncos,Lets hope Zenna and her Cuzzies get out to Parramatta Stadium to support the Eels again this week as they might need it.
The Eels really are a very hard team to gauge this season, they have alot of talent and at times when they click they look unbeatable but most times like last week they seem to play to their opposittion and most times this season have either scraped home or won by loads, this game will be no ifferent, you could toss a coin on the final winning margin in this gamwe and get closer to being correct, the Eels have won 3 of their last 5 against the Tigers,Storm and last week against the Storm, they have lost to the Sharks and Broncos both losses came late in those games and in both games the Eels had the chance to win those games but could'nt get the job done, can they this wek against the Panthers?
The Panthers really were short on troops last weekend when kick off in that game came around, they were missing just as many players as the Broncos were and their play at times while Brilliant at stages was largely pathetic,Lewis is making some very bad reads in attack and isnbeing over worked in defence largely thanks to his own options, the Panthers have alot of speed on the flanks and a great looking forward pack who try vwery hard,Pritchard was not at his best last week but some of the Juniors really stood up for the Panthers in Moors,Smith and Peters with Coote who retains his place on the bench being a standout for the injured Wesser last Friday Night, the Panthers have Wesser and Puleatua back for them this week as well as getting their Captain back for this match frseh from another Origin Series win.
Recent results and the Eels hold the advantage winning 4 of the last 6 played between these two clubs, the Eels at home have won only 1 of their last 3 against the Panthers though.
Local derbys are normally tight affairs and I expect this to be no different and as added incentive the winner of this match will have 8th place on the table and be in the drivers seat, this game is very hard to tip a claer winner on but we'll take the home side to get up again in a close one,the Eels are at home and should win this game but you really can't tell, both sides when they are on are both very good but when they are off they are both very bad,the Panthers are good enough to win this game but the Eels in their last 5 games have either won or only just lost where as the Panthers have not scored more than 12 points in their last 3 games against the Broncos12-12,Dragons 13-12 and the Roosters 32-12,while the Eels have been held under 20 points only once in their last 5 matches against any side,so the Eels can score points but they allow them also letting in on avergae at home this season 21 points per game.
Neither side seems to be able to kick on in their games and although the Eels will be looking to get on top after a lacklustre effort last week I am going to give the Panthers the benfit of the doubt here and say that the Eels will win it but the Panthers will remain within striking distance untill very late in the peice, take the Eels by 12 points or less....Good Luck.
