ATP - Mikhail Youzhny v Rafael Nadal
Both players have actually revenge against each other in here, so this will be a curious match to watch. Nadal lost his last match against Youzhny by 6:0 6:1 already this season in Chennai, while Youzhny was leading 2-0 sets against Nadal in the fourth round of Wimbledon last season, when he got injured and couldn't be competitive in the last three sets of the match. Now once against these two players face each other in the fourth round of Wimbledon and both have a chance to win this match. It's obvious that Nadal is the favorite to win this match, but Youzhny has already upsetted him four times during his career, including a win in the US Open when Nadal was just at 1.17 to win the match. Youzhny's game is a terrible matchup for Nadal on fast surfaces, as it is every player who can hit well from both wings on a consistent way. He may have needed five sets to take out Galvani and Stepanek in the previous rounds, but already last season he needed five sets to defeat Simon and then he pulled out of nowhere an amazing performance against Nadal. Youzhny is the type of player who was born for these matches against the best players in the world and instead of getting nervous, he steps it up and pulls out an amazing performance.
Nadal has been amazing in the grass season, but he isn't as dominant as he is on clay. He has been serving very well, but Youzhny is capable of attacking Nadal's serve like few on the circuit, always choosing an aggressive return, instead of just putting the ball in play, where Nadal will end up outplay him in the baseline. The main reason why Youzhny is also capable of making Nadal struggle is that he has no problems in taking risks and he always tries to hit his strokes to the line, so Nadal has more problems in reaching them. In that way, Youzhny will obviously have more unforced errors, but he will also have more winners and that's one of his main qualities. Not being afraid of committing errors, as he simply cares to have a great winner/error ratio. This match will be way more dangerous for Nadal than the odds show and I dare to say that if Nadal wins today, he will be in the final next Sunday. However the game spread for Youzhny should have been four games, as the Russian should be able to at least win a set and be competitive in the other ones. Take Youzhny plus the games in here.
