Doncaster
Race 1 Winner
There has been a fair amount of rain fall at Newcastle overnigh, and the official going is now good to soft, soft in places. This will have a real effect on the track, and even in a 6 furlong race, the horses must be able to act on this slower ground and not get bogged down in it.
My tip is a son of Machiavellian and they generally like a bit of give under foot. He has won on good to soft ground, when at Newmarket last year he won a group 3 ( same as todays race ) by an easy 2 lengths from one of today's rivals - Beckermet.
He is a generally progressice horse, as many by his sire are, and it is interesting to note that godolphin keep him in training as a 5 year old. It is his first run of the season, but that shouldn't matter too much, as godolphin know how to get one fit for the first time of asking. In fact last year, he hadn't run for 6 months and was got ready to win a decent enough little conditions race at Yarmouth.
I'm having a maximum each way bet here and i fully expect to collect on it.
