Carnegie League
Shelbourne Sporting Fingal
I reckon this match as a derby of the round.
First place Shels are hosting Sporting Fingal in very important clash. Win for the home side could be extremely important granting them five points difference over 2nd Dundalk. Win for away side could lift them closer to leading trio which could see them engaging in the promotional fight.
Home team has almost perfect home record: W6-D1-L0 14:0, but their form after break wasn't convincing as they lost 0:2 to Longford away. For this match they will miss their best scorer Anto Flood who scored half of their 26 goals. They will also be without influential midfielder Mark O'Brien. Shelbourne will try to push for win, but i think even draw would suit them after Dundalk slump against Limerick yesterday. Sporting is tough team to beat and they know it.
Fingal team will also have certain problems. They aren't really good away as they've lost four out of seven games (in comparsion at home they are still unbeaten). Moreover they will miss Dave Rogers, Colm James and Robbie Doyle. Names might mean nothing to you, but while Rogers is defender, James is starting midfielder who will be missed. Doyle is, like in Shels case, best scorer of the team with 10 goals and will be hugely missed.
Usually i don't play unders with this high stake, but here i'm willing to make an exception as situation is really specific. Both teams will miss their "executors", also midfielders who create chances and it's perfect situation for under 2.5. Shels are still to concede at home, and that shows how good their defense really is. And Sporting, despite their five overs in a row are under team! 9-6 in under favor in league. This two teams already met twice this season, in league it was peaceful 0:0, while in League Cup it was 2:2 and Shels advanced after penalty shootout. Importance of the match, combined with important missings and nature of this two teams gives us idle chances for under 2,5 goals which looks like a really good bet in my eyes...
