I had to be a bit rushed with my previous pick but this one is a 7.10pm match under floodlights so i can relax a little bit with my review.
Essex Eagles Vs Sussex Sharks
Twenty20 Cup
Its not often people get to write about there employers on 'Betshoot' but tonight i can, Ive worked for Essex CCC for about 17 years and tonight cos the weather is good they say i can stay at home which means i get to watch the game on TV.....with a beer in my hand!!!!
Sussex cant qualify for the QFs of the Twenty20 Cup, they made a poor start to the South Group and although they have won there last 2 matches its a bridge too far for them now. I do fancy them though to get something from this match they wont just be going through the motions in front of the Sky cameras thats for sure!!
Essex have chopped and changed there starting 11 line up throughout the twenty20 cup, Bopara (Essex best batsman) is away with England, Cook (is only available when England allow), Dexter is on loan from Kent (so couldnt play against Kent) and the captain (Pettini) has been out with a groin strain......swolen testicle!!!!!
Middlebrook was tried up the order 'Pinch hitting' but now they seem happy with Napier doing that. all in all its been a difficult time shuffling the pack, maybe thats why results have been so hit and miss in this competition.
I suspect Gallian will open tonight with Pettini and Napier will come in at 3, after that......who knows!!!!!!
I quite fancy Gallian to top bat for Essex tonight, As i said he should open and at 6.00 its a little over priced, Pettini and Napier will try to swing from the hip tonight with aggressive risky shots where as Gallian is an elegant stroke player who, although trying to score quickly, plays alot more ground shots and therefore is less likely to throw his wicket away.
The pressure is on Essex tonight and although Sussex have a poorish record at Chelmsford in Goodwin, Nash, Prior and Adams they have a great batting line up on show. The 2.10 on a Sussex win is worth a tickle. Winning the toss and batting is generally the way to go under lights and the toss could well be a key factor in this match.
