Royal Ascot
Race 2 Race Winner
Henry Cecil is still yet to have a winner this week at the Royal meeting, but I actually think one of his best chances of the week is in this race with Multidimensional. The horse is a bit of an enigma as he has run some horrible races interspersed with some amazing ines !
This year he has had 2 very bad runs ( which is why he is 40/1 ) but I am happy to forgive both of those. He ran poorly at both Chester and Epsom in very hot races, but he is a big strapping horse and was possibly unsuited by the uniqueness of both tracks ( Chester very tight and always on the turn, and Epsom undulating and adverse camber ) In my humble opinion he is much better suited to a flat fair track which is just what Ascot is. Last year he ran a cracker in the group 1 champion stakes at Newmarket which is very similar to Ascot, and that is some of the best form on offer here. He also won a group 2 over in France and ran a very good race first time out this season when he was about 3 lengths off Phoenix Tower at Newmarket and he was good enough to run second in the group 1 Prnce of Wales stakes this week behind Duke of Marmalade.
You have to take a bit of a leap of faith with him, but I reckon you won't get many better 40/1 shots running this summer.
The favourite is supposed to have won this already if you beleive what you hear on the TV and they are talking it up as the best bet of the day, however at likely odds of around 11/8 he is plenty short enough for me and a bit like Multidimensional still hasn't shown anything like top notch form.
He has only won his maiden and a group 3 round Chester, so he could well be a horse who likes the nuances of these tracks, and may not be so effective on the flatter, more galloping track here.
Either way I think we have a great each way bet here.
