Euro 2008 - Turkey v Czech Republic

Thanks to coach Fatih Terim we watched 2 different Turkey in 2 different games. In the first game: He did not let Emre Gungor in defend who is a necessary match for Servet as he has a challenge in turning back fast. He did not let Topal play, as Aurelio needs him to be more offensive. And again he did not let Arda play as he is supposed to be his most important gun for rivals of Turkey. In the second game he was a little better as he let Arda in first eleven. And after Turkey conceded goal from Yakin who is the Turkish striker of Switzerland national team, Fatih Terim decided to be normal and let Topal and Semih enter the game, he took Gokdenz and Tumer out. And then we started to watch almost the squad of my dream. Arda started to have more empty fields and more chance due to Semih, and Aurelio had more chance to help strikers due to Topal. Now I just read the declaration of Fatih Terim mentioning that he will form the squad with players: Volkan, Hamit, Emre Gungor, Servet, Hakan Balta, Arda, Tuncay, Mehmet Topal, Aurelio, Semih and Nihat. This is the one I am talking about. There was only Emre Gungor missing and looks like he also will be there. I hope there won’t be a final change or decision as this squad can show the best performance of Turkey so far in the competition.

When I am writing this preview the Greece and Russia game is being played. And as far as I know there is no game that a team won after loosing except Turkey who beat Switzerland in the second half. This is an evidence that Turks has a very strong offend especially when they are ok with midfield and when they have Arda playing additional to this the Turkish goal scorer Semih. Actually I wrote in the article of Turkey’s first game against Portugal by mentioning that they should have at least scored 1 goal but my plans did not work as Fatih Terim the terrible coach did the worst squad ever. Well simply Turkey has always a big chance in scoring, but now even more, thanks to coach again as Topal is installed and defend: as Servet is still fit and Emre Gungor would most probably is in the squad. Being a Turkish man I guess I understand my team better than; lets say a Portuguese or an Irish or lets say a Swedish person.

Czech Republic beat 1-0 Switzerland after a less risky style of football. And they got defeated to strong Portugal 3-1. They were not very bad in that game but could not stop Portuguese strikers. Actually I was excepting a better defending from them but could not manage to concede 3 goals. I guess they need to improve their midfield and defend by their coach Brükcner. I want to write here what he said about this game

“I have never said that Czech Rep. will win 100%, we need to be more careful against Turkey as we had done mistakes in last match. This game is difficult for both teams.”

Of course I believe Czech Rep. is good team and I really believe they have equal chance with Turkey in achieving this. But now Turkey will show their real strength especially together with Topal, Emre Gungor, Semih, and Arda. Another thing I should mention here is that they got their best motivation after the victory in their last game against Switzerland. If Turkey plays with the most efficient squad and if they are all motivated than I would never hesitate on placing my bet on behalf of Turkey.
