Greece were pitiful in the opening match, their coach Otto Rehhagel was criticised for fielding 5 defenders and playing way to defensive, which lead to a close game in the end and no goal scored for Hellenics. From my point of view they were poor up front indeed, but were quite decent at the back instead. Sweden were not allowed too many spaces, had they missed the few chances they've had could have easily ended up in a scoreless draw, even though I have to say the Scandinavians were overall the better team and should have won it, but not by two goals that's for sure.
The Russians got thrashed 4-1 by Spain meanwhile in a match they were very weak in defence, especially when the Spaniards were throwing the ball up front, there was always danger when either Torres either Villa were left unmarked, which lead to 4 goals afterwards. I've already said in one of my previews that Russia have a mental problem on the road, there's lack of experience at this level so no matter what Guus Hiddink does I think it's going to very hard for them to break Greece, and win eventually.
What's interesting is that the Russians are viewed as favourites tonight. Probably it's the mass-media that had a big influence after Greece lost to Sweden as they stand with a hammer over their heads, it's a do or die match and there are plenty of profuse feeds around. What I know is that I trust Greece more, firstly because of their experience and secondly because of their tactic, expect them to play the same defensive-minded football that has to work against Russia who surprisingly were having the twist to press Spain a few days ago, which could have worked if Spain weren't so good on counters.
