ATP - Philipp Kohlschreiber v James Blake
Kohlie clearly loves the conditions in here, as he is a former quarter finalist in 2005 and semi finalist in 2007. This week he has defeated Benneteau, Haas and Soderling, showing that once again he is in Halle to try to get as far as he can. Kohlschreiber has a good game for grass, with a good serve and being capable from hitting very well from both wings, especially from his backhand side. He can also finish the points at the net and the crowd is helping him a lot this week.
Blake struggled to get past Becker (4:6 7:5 6:3) and Beck (7:6 7:6) in his past two matches in here and grass isn't exactly his best surface. His movement on grass isn't half as good as his movement on hardcourt and his shot selection also isn't great for grass. Blake lost last year in quarter finals of this tournament by 6:4 6:3 against Kohlschreiber, getting broken twice thanks to his inconsistent service games and not being able to even get a break point during the whole match. Honestly I don't think much has changed in the past season and so, I think Kohlschreiber is once again the better player of the two this week and the German player is also the one who is getting this tournament more seriously, as Blake is just thinking about Halle, as a preparation tournament for Wimbledon. Take Kohlschreiber to win. Regular Play.
