Euro 2008 - Italy v Romania

Well well well...You get beaten 3-0 by Holland and people forget who you really are. Let me tell you one thing: Romania are a decent improving side, and according to what they've been sowing during the group stage I think a potential qualification would be a fair thing. However they are coming off an awful display against France in a match they didn't create anything and were only worried not to concede. Maybe it happened because it was the first match, maybe the frenchmen have the best defence in the world, but it was NOT Romania I used to know...sorry..I suspect they were so chanceless up front because of the fact they can't play against teams who play possesionally, and France did exactly that, ok they've been trying at least. So when Romania loses the middle, and it has to happen against better rated sides, they get dominated and their counter-attacks which normally should represent a solution don't work for them, doesn't suit them simple as that. This theory explains why they looked so well against Holland for instance, because the Flying Dutchmen play counters mostly, like against Italy a recent prove, and they allowed Romania to create and dominate the match, and that expalins their good perfomance.

Against Italy Piturca will have a problem. According to some declarations they are going to defend hard as they did a few days ago against France, the only problem being the fact you can't play like this against Italy, unless you're good on counters and take adavantage as Holland did. Squadra Azzura have wonderful players who know to hold the ball and "eat" you in your own box, the Dutchmen were lucky to escape with a clean sheet, even though have had a great match, but on counters of course, and Romanians can't do that. That being said we've got some sort of tactical edge, adding the the fact Italians CAN'T afford any mistake or they're out, I think we've got a pretty decent bet.
