Euro 2008 - Greece v Sweden

Group D will start tonight. The Cup holder Greece will face Sweden in a match that could decide which of them will arrive third in this group. I’m convincing that both team won’t qualify for the next round first of all because Spain and Russia have more qualities and also because Grecee and Sweden have shown not exciting soccer in the recent past.

Greece is changed a lot respect the last 2004 competition, if we would compare the two teams we can discover that the defensive line is more or less the same of the last edition but in the other sector only few players are the same of the last edition. In this two sectors there are some good and experienced players, Karagounis and Basinas in the midfield while in the attack line Gekas should be supprted by two interesting players like Amanatidis and/or Samaras.

As regarding Sweden, they seem to be not competitive for this group. Their defensive line is a question mark for me, a lot of new players in this sector, the only Mellberg is the connection with the past. In the midfield and in the attack line there are some good players but everyone is in a not great moment, Ibrahimovic(recently injuried), Elmander and Allbeck in the attack line don’t seem to have the right feeling. In the midfield the only Ljungberg seem to have the right experience to can organize something good while the other in this sector are lacking of quality.

At the end I find good the X here but I consider more convenient the 1AH with a little advantage for Greece.
