USL - Atlanta Silverbacks v Puerto Rico Islanders
Silverhawks (currently 7th) have a 3-2-2 record and with tonights win they can climb up to the 4th place. However a few teams who sit infront of them in the tables played 1,2 or even 4 games more. Atlanta is more than just solid at home where they gathered 10 out of 11 points with a 3-1-1 record. After two consecutive away losses, there were some changes made in the team. Josh Bolton reclaimed a starting spot in the central defense and Jerson Monteiro started the game paired with Jason McLaughlin up top, moving Kandji back into the midfield. Kandji looks to be in good form as he scored a decisive goal to help his team win over Carolina last friday. He earned his spot in the USL-1 weekly Best 11 team.
Puerto Rico Islanders are as bad as their position shows, but they seem to have great problems when it comes to keeping a good result. They are last in the league with a 1-2-3 record and only 5 points gathered so far, despite the fact they played all but one games at home! It is true that they were preparing for a CONCACAF Champions League, as most of the team plays for a national team. However, they played only 2 days ago away at Honduras where they were expected to lose and so they did. The final result was 4-0 for the hosts. I am not completely sure if all these players who played this game will be in the squad today, but traveling around and playing on two different fronts doesn`t help anybody, that is why I think this is another good argument which points to a home win.
This will be the first encounter this season betweeen these two teams. They met three times last season and Silverhawks won all three games by 3-2 (away at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium) and 3-0 and 3-1 at Silverbacks Park. Home win is my call! Good luck!
