World Cup 2010 Qual.
Uzbekistan Singapore
Asian -1,75 : +1,75
Uzbekistan plays Singapore in Tashkent, 4. game, Group 3, WC 2010 Quali.
I am sure we will see Uzbekistan not only in the Final Round of this quali, but also at the World Cup in South Africa. They were unlucky 3 years ago, when FIFA void a 1-0 win over Bahrain after a mistake by a Japanese referee. The replay ended 1-1, Bahrain went into the play-offs. Now the Uzbekistans are certainly one of the strongest sides in Asia. Their league is 2 classes above the S-League, their best clubs Quruvchi and Pakhtakor Tashkent are candidates to win the AFC Champions League. If we add that Uzbekistans best players play in Russia and the Ukraine (Shatskikh played 9 years at D. Kiev, scoring 96 goals in 209 m. for Kiev and 29 goals in 38 m. for Uzbekistan, now playing for Krylia Sovetov Samara; Denisov is playing for Dnipropetrovsk), we will see that the results of Uzbekistan in this WC quali are not a surprise: 9-0 and 2-0 ag. minnow Taiwan, 1-0 in Lebanon, 3-0 in Tashkent ag. Saudi-Arabia and 7-3 5 days ago in Singapore. In march they played a friendly and won 4-1 in Tashkent over Jordan (who played 2-2 last week in South Korea). They have beaten much better sides than Singapore in Tashkent. This time I don´t expect a hammering 7-3, the Lions will play much tighter in defence, they will not run forward as they did a few days ago. But now they are facing problems with the heat and low humidity in Uzbekistan.
From the-afc.com: Defenders Baihakki Khaizan and Shaiful Esah missed training after coming down with fever and coach Raddy Avramovich also required medical aid on Thursday after being overcome by the weather conditions.
While he skipped the pre-match press conference, Avramovic was able to speak beforehand about the challenge facing his side on Saturday.
“We played an open game in Singapore and I am happy with my team despite the heavy defeat,” he said.
“We lost to one of the best sides in Asia so we have nothing to be ashamed of by the defeat.
“I cannot say what our tactics will be for the match in Tashkent but we will make a decision before the game.”
Singapore full-back Noh Rahman is suspended after receiving his second yellow card of the qualifiers in Monday’s game.
Uzbekistan to win 3-1 or 4-1!
