Turkey and Portugal face eachother in their first Euro08 match. According to the odds this one is a easy one for Portugal. I wonder why?

Turkey had a lucky campaign during the road to Euro 2008. They started very well and after the victory over Greece they failed in every aspect. They conceded stupid goals and the coach just couldn't turn things around, after changing players over and over again. These constant changes in search for a working formula caused this current team to be a team wich is not solid.

Turkey have some talented players who play in Europe's well known teams: Tuncay (Middelsborough) or Nihat (Villareal). These players could make a difference, butt not if they are not playing like a team. I just dont see a winning mentality in the eyes of the Turkish players.

The team have some Squad problems to. Some of the key players are not in Top condition butt will most likely play the game like Servet Cetin and Tuncay Sanli. Plus the fact that Yildiray and Halil were send home calls up for Question marks.

Portugal on the other hand is one of the favorites of group A, and even one of the favorites to lift the Cup. Portugal have many talented players who play in Europe's top clubs. They are the team who provide most Championsleague winning players. Portugal will want to start with a solid victory without giving away to much. Scolari is a good coach and has been working with Portugal for a long time now. I think he will have a good start to his campaign against Turkey just like he did with Brazil in 2002.

According to history this match should be a easy one for Portugal. Portugal beat Turkey in EC 1996 and in 2000 without conceding a goal. I think this one could be a similar result, maybe 1-0 or 2-0 for Portugal!
