WTA - Safina v Ana Ivanovic

Safina's good results at Berlin gave a hint she might be a black horse at RG, won Henin/S.Williams/Azarenka/Dementieva but it's still hard to believe she made it all the way to the final. The biggest reason seems to be her new coach who has mada a former serious headcase to become a fighter who gives nothing for free. After the firstroundopponents she has beaten three good players, Sharapova/Dementieva/Kuznetsova. Sharapova not fully fit and weaker on the clay, Dementieva choked and Kuznetsova played a bad match. Though Sharapova and Dementieva both had mp to end the game but didn't succeed. That usually gives a player new fire to the next match when there isn't practically anymore nothing to lose because the loss should have become earlier and when player's abilities're good it's a dangerous combination.

Ivanovic has had easier way, only one hard match against defensive Jankovic who against Ivanovic's firstserve% dropped from avarage 59% to 55% and she had maby more troubles than forenand expected. Safina served her first serves in her first three matches with 55% avarage but in her last three important matches 63%-67%-67%. It's Safina's first Grand Slam final but shouldn't have effect at the moment when it seems that she can't take pressure. Ivanovic's style to cheer almost her every point'd have been trouble for her earlier, I think. Ivanovic plays the final as the wta number 1 player for the first time during her career what might bring her some pressure even it shouldn't but you never know too well how the head of the ladies works, usually Ivanovic is mentally strong enough. Safina has turned her game to be more aggressive the further the tournament has gone and in her last thretough matches her win/enforced errors rates has been impressive: 66/32-66/34-39/23. This style should bring the troubles for Ivanovic if something'll bring those for her because she can't control the game. Then Safina's movement isn't the best and Ivanovic is also aggressive but seeing Ivanovic in the current situation smaller favourite than the odds say.
