WTA - Kanepi v Petra Kvitova
There is no reason why Petra Kvitova should be the favorite in here. She is just 18 years old and she's playing her first Grand Slam. Her style of play is extremely risky and with the nerves that she will have today, she will simply start spreading errors everywhere. Kvitova is still very far from being a consistent player and she will simply get nervous, for being on a fourth round match of a Grand Slam, especially on a match against someone that she knows she can beat.
Kaia Kanepi has defeated two good clay courters (Chakvetadze, Medina Garrigues) and she is extremely confident right now. She is way more experienced than Kvitova and she has defeated the Czech player on Miami this season by 3:6 7:5 7:5, taking advantage of the errors of Kvitova in the crucial moments of the match. Kanepi has a style of play way more secure than Kvitova and her comeback from 2:5 in the third set against Medina Garrigues gave her a lot of confidence for this match.
Kvitova has defeated a bad player on clay (Morigami), a player returning from an injury (Stosur) and a player capable of everything on a tennis court (Szavay). I can't say those wins were incredible and all of them weren't exactly unlikely to happen before the matches. Kanepi has done the opposite, taking out the number 6 of the world in straight sets and a world class clay courter, who was coming from a title in Strasbourg the week before. The match will be close and the value is on the underdog, as Kanepi is clearly the most consistent and experienced of the two players. Take Kanepi to win in here.
