Germany plays Serbia in their last friendly before EURO. Germany is again a power-house in world football, after a crisis in the years 2000 - 2006 (despite being world vice-champions), and a world-class team. Löw continues the good work of Klinsmann and I won´t be surprised, if he becomes the most successfull coach in German´s football history. He has the perfect mixture of experienced and young players, playing now 3 years together on a high level. They are high motivated to win this game after the disappointment display against the mediocre Belarus team. Löw made 4 changes in the first 11, Jansen instead Hitzlsperger on the left back, Fritz instead of Odonkor on the right side and Kuranyi and Gomez upfront instead of Klose and Podolski. On the other side Serbia is facing a generation-change, players like Kezman, Vukic, Kovacevic, Djordjevic, Duljaj, Krstajic, Milosevic are sorted out and their new coach Djukic builds a new team. He was European Vice-Champion with the U21 squad, and most of "his" players are now in the senior selection (like Lazovic, Tosic, Jankovic, Sulejmani, Babovic, Smiljanic, Ivanovic, Tosic, Milovanovic, Kolarov, Rukavina and goalie Stojkovic). And if we add good players like Pantelic, Dragutinovic, Vidic, Ilic and Kuzmanovic we can see, they are not so bad. But they are far away from being a team, they still are not good enough to compete on a high level like the Germans do. They played 1-1 vs. Ireland, where they were the better team, but failed to convert their dominance into goals. On Wednesday the Serbian B-team lost deserved 1-2 ag. Russia. I would rate this Serbian B-squad on the same level as Belarus. Today we expect to see the best available Serbian team. The starting line-ups:
Germany will have a clear advantage on the wings. Dragutinovic is not fast enough and Smiljanic lacks experience against the agressive Lahm and Fritz, on the right side Jankovic is weak in defending and Rukavina is a mediocre right-back. It will be hard for them to prevent good balls for Kuranyi and Gomez, who are excellent in the air, although it won´t be easy against Vidic and Ivanovic. Serbia must try with their short-pass-play and good movement to keep the Germans running, they are still tired, and then try to find Pantelic who is good one on one. Serbia won´t get many chances, but they could score one or maybe even two goals as the German´s defense is not on the same high level as the midfield and the strikers, Lehmann looks a little bit shaky too. The game vs. Belarus proved that and Serbia is definitely better tham Belarus. I take high stakes, and cover it, if necessary, with live-betting!
