ATP - Paul-Henri Mathieu v Eduardo Schwank
Paul-Henri Mathieu comes to this match extremely confident, as in his previous match he was able to win, after losing the first two sets of the match. It was the first time ever he has managed to do such thing and this is the kind of thing which gives a player a lot of confident. He will play once again on the main court of Roland Garros and he is clearly one of the crowd favorites in here. He has a very good return game and his game is extremely complete, being capable of hitting almost all shots of the game pretty well, excluding the drop shots. Mathieu has never managed to reach the fourth round in here, but he has reached the third round in the three previous edition of this tournament, losing against Andreev, Nadal and Canas. Now he is the favorite to win this match and I'm sure Wilander knows how to prepare "Paulo" for today.
Eduardo Schwank just got his 20th win in a row, but now the outside courts are history and it's time to play against a Top 20 player on the central court of Roland Garros, in a third round match! Can you feel how nervous Schwank will be today? The Argentinian has been playing extremely well, but you know this run will have to come to an end one day and I just can't see him to have enough energies and especially mental strength to be capable of handle the rhythm of a confident Mathieu, playing at home on such a big court like this one. The Argentinian player is living a dream right now, but all dreams come to an end and he simply doesn't have enough game to beat someone like Mathieu on a third round of a Grand Slam, on his debut on a central court of a Grand Slam.
The handicap is so short that basically what we are asking is to Mathieu win the match and not lose any set by a big margin. He lost two sets by a big margin against Hernandez in the previous round, but the Spanish player is as patient as a saint and his ultra-defensive game annoyed Mathieu. Schwank is an aggressive baseliner, who will end up destroy himself during the match, as he is going to be extremely nervous. It's time for France to have again a French player in the fourth round of Roland Garros (last year they didn't have a single one) and Mathieu will be the French player to advance to the second round. Fairytales exist in tennis, but not on a third round of a Grand Slam. Take Mathieu minus the games in here. Super Play.
