Cork City FC Shamrock
Cork was one of the biggest candidates for the title before the season, but with four draws in first four rounds they didn't lived to that expectations. Now, they are without a draw in last eight games, but with five wins and three loses. Losing only to defending champion Drogheda, and leaders Pats and Bohs isn't really bad result, but public expected more from them. In last round they outplayed in-form Bray and i think they should build up on that win. For this match they won't have bigger injury problems, only Farrelly is still out, Joe Gamble is back after suspension, same as P. Sullivan after injury.
I've wrote about Shamrock in last round clash with Drogheda. Drogs didn't managed to beat injured troubled Rovers. In fact Shamrock almost won, but bar saved Drogs from loss in last minute. Still, you can't say Shamrock is in good form, without a win from 4th round when they won against last Galway (i think Galway were last already at that time). Since then they've picked only four points in eight rounds, three in last three games. That shows that they are in ascending trend, but with all this missings i don't think it will last long. For this match they still miss Chris Mulhall, John Martin, Robbie Creevy, Pat Flynn, Dessie Baker and Eric McGill. Darren Stapleton and Danny O'Connor are highly questionable, while Barry Ferguson is questionable after he picked up a knock against Drogheda. That are total nine players, even if few of them play today (except Ferguson i think neither of them is capable) Shamrock will be in troubles. They will come to defend and try to keep clean sheet, Cork is so far one of the most efficient teams and should be able to deliver at least once.
Conclusion: Cork didn't lost to Shamrock in last four seasons when playing at home, they are in good form, with good atmosphere, and without bigger injury problems. Rovers are in problems, not only with pressure of picking points as they are dangerous close to relegation line, but also because their problems with absent players. I don't think they will again succeed in keeping clean sheet and that should be enough for Cork win.
