After six loses in a row, Harps picked five points in last three games, jumping over Cobh and UCD to get over releagation line for first time since 4th round. It was very inspiring for them, atmosphere is good now and team is optimistic. But, today they will have their real test, in-form Derry. In this last three games they've played with relegation candidates Cobh and Galway, and out of form Shamrock, now they'll meet title contenders. They have injury problems among their squad, especially in the defensive part and it could prove decisive here as they kept clean sheet in only one of their 12 games so far. Today they should have trouble scoring and should concede at least one. Injured players are: first goalie James Gallagher, defenders Jonathan Minnock, Cornelius Gallagher and Aaron Labonte. Also attacker Marc Brolly is out for this match.
On the other side we have Derry which plays great lately. After five games without a win they've won vs UCD and Cobh, teams of Harps profile (relegation candidates). Eircom league is home league, meaning most of the home teams win, and Derry is 3rd best team on a road with W2-D3-L1 6:5 and along with leading duo Pats-Bohs they have the best defense in league. If they want to catch on this two they need to keep winning now and for this match they won't have any new absent players. It means that injured trio Sammy Morrow, Paddy McCourt and Sean Hargan is still out, but only McCourt is important (key midfielder). If there wasn't that injury i would be almost positive that Derry would win this, but in this case i'll lower my stake and still go with Derry win.
Conclusion: There is a quality gap between this two, only thing that goes in Harps favor is that they are playing at home. I don't think it will be enough as they failed to win vs Derry in last nine years!! They have much more injured players, especially in defensive part and after their recent good result they can play more relaxed. I expect minimal Derry win.
Predicted score: 0:1
