MLB - Baltimore Orioles v Washington Nationals

Another game where everything seems to favour the home team – in this one they have a clear edge on pitching, bullpen , and even a big advantage in batting, so why not?

The nationals are sending in Lannan a pitcher with a season ERA of 3.74, a reasonable mark, but pitching very bad lately (last 3 games ERA of 6.00!) – he has some dreadful games and didn’t even faced some hard opponents - he almost doesn’t strike out, and normally stays on field a few innings.

Baltimore will send in Guthrie which has a season ERA of 4.18, but is quite constant pitcher – in a better form surely – he pitched last 3 games at a ERA of 3.84 – Guthrie strikes out a lot more and has shown control and confidence lately – the main difference between these two is really their WHIP where Guthrie is so much better (1.286 vs 1.555) and this is hugely important as this data let’s you know how much hits they usually allow. Baltimore bullpen is better then the Washington (3.46 vs 3.80), adding to the fact that Guthrie will stay longer on the pitch.

In terms of batting again the orioles will have a lot more confident batters right now – they are batting a lot better (0.283 vs 0.215) which is also another aspect me to go on the big handicap here.
