The team from the principeauté eventually could win some points lately and save its ass from the relegation fight, even if on the field they are still playing poorly, without imagination, class and spirit. They were quite lucky with some refs decision @ Nice. Coach Ricardo was happy with the performance that he felt was coming, and pointed out the combativity of the team which won many battles in order to win this match. Now Monaco need only one point to be clearly savec, but will miss Modesto, Puiquionne, and Bernardi.
On the other side Marseille lost at home against a great team of Lille who won the tactical battle and scored some goals on counter attacks. The phoceans are now one point behind Nancy in the fight for the first place, and has to grab something from its little trip to Monaco. It’s a bit intriguing that coach Gerets said that the team is bit tired after all the efforts they made in 2008, but he added that they’ll everything to grab that 3rd place. For this game only Ziani is doubtful, while Nasri should be available.
Now I believe we have to take Marseille now as odds already started to drop. It’s an historical fact that OM have always had good results in Monaco, as generally the stadium is packed with their fans which give them a good boost. Marseille has more motivation, and in the paper, the team is much better. I think they won’t repeat the same mistakes as they did against Lille, as in my opinion those matches can’t be compared. Monaco have not been impressive at home this season and they could pay that this week end with another loss to Marseille
