Real Madrid Vs Sevilla
I should probably start with the fact that I'm Real Madrid fan. But I don't like Schuster's appointment nor team's play!
Pepe, Robben, Higuain, Saviola etc. not convincing purchases and money definitely not well spent! Call me old fashioned but looks like Galactico era was one of the best times we've had recently.
Now back to the game, there could be a number of people that disagree with me, but I can only see 2 possible outcomes here, draw (that's what Madrid will be hoping for) or Sevilla win and I'll go with the latter one at such great odds.
Sevilla had great results against Madrid in recent years, I remember Baptista and Reyes used to cause havoc in Madrid's defence. Sevilla won 6 out of last 9, 2 wins for Madrid and 1 draw, 'slight' advantage for Sevilla I would say. Although it's worth to mention that indeed Madrid had the upper hand back in 90's, where they have managed to dish out such famous defeats as 7-0, 5-1, 5-0 but that was 90's when Madrid had the better squad by a million miles. Also as we know Madrid are good at home against any team and have only two losses this season.
Below please see most recent results that are in favour of Sevilla.
04/11/2007 SPL Sevilla vs Real Madrid 2 - 0
20/08/2007 Spain Super Real Madrid vs Sevilla 3 - 5
12/08/2007 Spain Super Sevilla vs Real Madrid 1 - 0
07/05/2007 SPL Real Madrid vs Sevilla 3 - 2
10/12/2006 SPL Sevilla vs Real Madrid 2 - 1
17/05/2006 SPL Sevilla vs Real Madrid 4 - 3
16/01/2006 SPL Real Madrid vs Sevilla 4 - 2
15/05/2005 SPL Sevilla vs Real Madrid 2 - 2
21/12/2004 SPL Real Madrid vs Sevilla 0 - 1
For this game Madrid will be missing Pepe, Ruud and Metzelder and of course as usual mighty Schuster excluded
Soldado, Salgado, Balboa and Codina. So looks like Heinze and Cannavaro will form partnership in defence, just what Sevilla will be looking for, I just see Kanoute and Fabiano smiling now. Without Ruud I don't see where the goals gonna come from? Well of course, Robinho & Raul still pose a threat but defence always let's Madrid down!
Sevilla will be missing Ivica Dragutinovic is sidelined after undergoing an operation, while Enzo Maresca serves
the first game of a four-match suspension following his red card for head-butting Sergio Aguero last weekend with Maresca missing too. Escude is a doubt but might play.
So tonight I will bet against my own team, strongly believing that Sevilla will perform to their standards on the night and will win this match by an odd goal, I'm sure we can expect an open match with plenty of chances at both ends but whatever Madrid do they will have to deal with threat of Kanoute and Pichichi Fabiano who has scored 22 goals to date! It's a risky bet I know, but knowing that this will be the case of who wants it most I think Sevilla will prevail, let's not forget that Barca lost last night and I'm sure this will be in Madrid's players heads, they know that's another slip up that they can afford now.
So all recent form will go out of the window tonight and I will bet on Sevilla to get their European hopes back on track at the Bernabeu and Good Luck!
