When I saw a match up between Nashville & Detroit, I could tell that it will be a tricky affair for Detroit. Last time they met (9th Mar) it was quite comfortable for Detroit up until some horrible plays in 3rd period that almost lost them the game in the end. It was 4-3 to Detroit in regulation. So with Nashville really needing to win last night's game, I expected Detroit to loose this one. Although it's worth mentioning that Detroit outshot Nashville last night 35-27. Judging by last night's Nashville goalies performance he was quite the difference together with the team's hunger to win they've put in a great performance as a team, of course for Detroit Osgood's done his bit too. Anyways what I'm trying to say is that I think Detroit should have no problem tonight against out of all sorts Jackets! So far this season's series are tied at 2-2 with Detroit having lost last two match ups, also it's worth mentioning last meeting in Feb Jackets won 5-1, BUT it was depleted Detroit they played back then, I don't think anybody expected Detroit to win that game. Detroit are back to their best, shooting puck well and will have Hasek back in goal tonight who has posted a 2.00 goals-against average in winning his last three starts overall, and is 7-2-0 with a 1.72 GAA versus Columbus Blue Jackets.
Detroit have lost their last game but have won 4 in their last 5 over all.

Jackets are coming off a horrible defeat against Blackhawks, their defence was all over the place! Pascal Leclaire was pulled after allowing three goals on the first six shots he faced as the Blue Jackets trailed 3-0 after one period. Unless they regroup and sort their defence out Leclaire in goal won't be enough to save them tonight. I predict that Detroit will outshoot Jackets and will dominate the possession for most parts of the game. Zherdev, Nash and Co. will have to be at their best to salvage some sort of result against Detroit tonight.
Jackets have lost 4 out of last 5 over all with 2 of those defeats coming at home.

This is first of three meetings between these teams in the coming week... They'll meet Sunday at Nationwide, Wednesday at Joe Louis and then back in Columbus next Saturday. Offensive minded Red Wings should prevail tonight. I hear Jackets were practicing their defence after defeat to Blackhawks. I still wonder how many Datsyuk will score tonight? Detroit win in regulation please and Good Luck!
