Inter Milan Liverpool
Inter have a mountain to climb if they want to progress to the next stage. A very tricky game for them because of that Gerrard strike in the 90th minute that changed everything. Being 0:1 behind wouldn’t be that bad for them but with this 0:2…I just wonder how many people believe Inter can still make it to the quarters. Well, I don’t.
Inter have to attack but they can’t forget to defend, if they concede they’re as good as out of CL this season. I don’t know how they will approach the game under these circumstances, there’s nothing to wait for really, they should attack but they know that throwing many men forward might be a suicide. To make matters worse their first choice defenders are out: Materazzi is suspended and Cordoba is injured. All the other important players are available.
Liverpool have definitely regained the momentum in the recent games. Torres and Gerrard are really on fire right now, the whole team is playing better and I know I can expect a well playing Liverpool side entering the field every time right now. Liverpool will be missing the injured Finnan and Xabi Alonso, who didn’t travel with the team as his wife is going to give birth. But Liverpool have something Inter don’t have. Rafa Benitez. His rotation policy doesn’t work in EPL but he was always well on top of things in CL. They defeated Barcelona away last year, with Barcelona not being able to play their style of football. And in the final they have been clearly the better side in the first half until that Inzaghi goal. Benitez prepares a tactic and in Europe Liverpool don’t give their opposition any space. I expect a similar display today. With the sensational partnership of Torres and Gerrard Liverpool have what it takes to score and a goal would probably kill all the hope of Inter. I can really imagine a scenario in which another English club defeats and Italian club at San Siro. That’s why I’m backing Liverpool to win this game.
The odds have been well higher just two days ago (around 5.50), now they are around 4.00-4.35.
