NZ Breakers Gold Coast Blaze
Asian -5.5 : +5.5
The game is between: NZ Breakers vs Gold Coast Blaze
New Zealand play hosts to the Gold Coast Blaze in what looms as a hugely important game for both sides. The Breakers sit in seventh position while the Blaze sit in fifth position. This match will have big bearing on how the final eight will pan out, and a Breakers win will give the H2H advanage over Blaze, and they will pass them in the standings.
The Breakers have been very inconsistent in recent times and the loss of Rick Rickert (17.6ppg) is starting to show. Last round was no exception as they lost 101-111 on the road to the Hawks, allthough the can be forgiven, since Hawks shoot 59% 2 pointers, and 68% 3 pointers, then they followed that up with an impressive 113-97 road win against the West Sydney Razorbacks, after being behind with some margin.
Kirk Penney, Mika Vukona, Phill Jones and Tony Ronaldson lately, needs to step up at home today, and make a stand. They will have their hands full trying to contain the Blaze James Harvey and Jason Crowe.
Gold Coast received some devastating news earlier this week as one of their key players Juaquin Hawkins suffered a stroke. That spells the end of his season and with Ben Melmeth still on the sidelines, it will effect their height in the key. Gold Coast still have a solid roster but their depth will be tested and playing the Breakers in New Zealand is never an easy ask.
With Hawkings & Memeth out for Blaze they lack a lot of power inside the key, and need to relay on the outsideshooting. I hold Breakers @ -7 today.
