As there are few sporting events to bet on, during this period the EPL is the main focus for most punters.
The past few days i took the advice of other punters and managed to make some money; but today i've decided to write a preview of my own and suggest a pick of my own.The match that seem a bit interesting to me is the one in which Portsmouth will host Middlesbrough.
The fact that caught my eye here is that Portsmouth is a good team and play a organized soccer, managing to create problems for any team; but after that incredible 7-4 win against Reading they have yet to score at home.Looks like they have scored in that match with Reading everything goal they had in them. They have home record of 2-6-1 with 11 goals scored and 7 received. But if we exclude the match with Reading that gives us a 1-6-1 record with 4 goals scored and 3 received.A stat that is much closer to the truth and gives us an interesting perspective of what Portsmouth really play at home.I would say that their last match with Arsenal really summed almost every match home match. There were big scoring chances for both teams but nothing really happened. Both teams kind of played it safe with a lot of passing going around and each team waiting for the other team's mistake.
For this match with Boro, i expect something different from Portsmouth.First of all i have to say that i don't believe this team can go another home match without scoring. And if they do manage to score, than i strongly believe that they will go on to win this match.
To make things more clear, let's take a look at Boro's away record. It's 2-2-6 with only 6 goals scored and 18 received. Not to good. But if we take a closer look we see that things are even worst due to the fact that those two wins and two draws were matches against very poor teams.0-1 at Derby and and 1-2 at Fulham were the two wins; while 0-0 at Bolton and 1-1 at Reading were the two draws. All the other away matchs were lost and most of them lost at a 2 or more goals difference. In the last round they lost 3-0 at Birmingham and judging after that match i would say that Boro have to come with something real special to be able to surpass Portsmouth.
The fact remains that Portsmouth hasn't scored for a long time at home and if they manage to score in this match then they will also be favorites for winning it.Boro is a team that they can defeat.I've placed my bet at Bet-at-home as they offer a 1.70 odd while most of the other bookmakers offer odds around 1.65.
