2. Bundesliga
Koln Kaiserslautern
1. FC Köln in the duty today - all teams on a promotion spot dropped points this round (Gladbach + Freiburg drawed and Mainz lost). 1860 and Fürth overtook them in the table with wins so 3 points would mean that they will winter on a promotion spot because of the better goal differnce.
Kaiserlautern come from a shameful 2:3 home defeat against bottom club CZ Jena after leading 2:0 at halftime. Coach Kjetil Rekdal suspended Esben Hansen (urged to leave the club), Moussa Outtara and Björn Runström after the game and they are not in the squad.
Quite possible for me that FCK will sack their coach in the winter break and try a "new beginning" in 2008.
The club has no money due to mismanagement in the last decade so maybe former player Klaus Toppmöller (national team coach in Georgia) will try to save the sinking ship.
On the annual general meeting sponsors announced to offer money in the short term...
Köln had a stuttering start with ups and downs, but they finally found their system in the last month.
Köln received more goals than Lautern, but with red-hot striker Novakovic (14 goals), Helmes and Vucicevic in the offense you can often compensate that.
Against no other team Köln has such a negative record (8 defeats in 10 years and their last win was 17 years ago), but i'm confident that they will stop this series today and have their intended 30 points in the first half of the campaign after the game.
