Euroleague competition starts this week with many interesting games. In one of them Aris Salonica meets at home Unicaja Malaga.I know it is too early to pass any picks as it is only Saturday but for some reasons i decided to start posting four days before the starting whistle.First of all i expect odds to change sooner or later as IMO the Spanish squad is the clear favourite on this game.Secondly it is possible for me not to have access to my PC.And finally and mainly my opinion for this game is not gonna change even if one or two players of Malaga get injured the days till the game.
So Aris with just one official game against Olympiada Patron this weekend will face a team which has already played four games for ACB League. This is not only a disadvantage for Aris but for all the Greek teams playing in international competitions as Greek League starts later than every other big championship.Newcomers like Bracey Wright,Reyshaun Terry and Hano Mottola are not gonna reach a high level of performance just with one game on their feet.
For the home team players like Scales,Giannoulis and especially Wilkinson who left the team will possibly miss for Aris as Right and Terry are not value players and possibly they can not equally replace Scales.Of course Finish Mottola can not be compared with Mike Wilkinson neither inexperienced Agadakos with veteran Giannoulis. We have to add that Aris will have a new coach this year,Gordon Herbert, who has experience from France but IMO Andrea Matzon, the master of defense, who moved to Bologna is a better coach.
On the other hand Unicaja is a club which has almost two equal players in every place.Marcus Haislip and Bojan Popovic can make the difference this year for the spanish team which i think is gonna be better this year.Haislip,N'Dong and Santiago will make a party under the basket against Aris's big guys.Sergio Scargiolo has established on the bench for Malaga and has placed higher goals than last year.
I know that Aris court is gonna be full of Salonica fans(after all Aris is based on his home games)but again i think Malaga is the clear favourite here.So i will back the spanish team with the higher stake for first time this year.
