Ok finally the time for the final-four of Euroleague in Athens has come. All basketball fans are waiting inpatiently for the starting whistle of the referee. In the second game of the day two of the best teams in Europe,Panathinaikos and Tau Ceramica, will give their best to qualify to the Sunday final. The greek team which plays in of front of its supporters is the favorite here by 5 points.Tau came to Greece as the outsider in this game and maybe this will be the best weapon of the spanish team tomorrow.
Both teams will probably play at full squad:For Panathinaikos the power forward of the team and a basic member of the national team of Greece,Kostas Tsartsaris, overcame his back injury and is ready to help his teammates in their difficult effort.Coach Obradovic is also expected to make the surpsise tomorrow and to conclude Tony Delk in the final team after a long time. The american guard at first was playing for both Euroleague and the greek league but recently his coach decided to replace him with Dejan Tomasevic and now Delk is able to play only for Euroleague competition.
One thing is sure for tomorrow. We will see an interesting battle between the two teams.Igor Racosevic and Sercan Erdogan will try to "kill" the greek team with some free 3-point shots but against them they will find Nikos Hatzivrettas and Dimitris Diamantides, both of them excellent defenders.Especially Diamantidis is considered the best defender in Europe and that is why he has earned this title three consecutive years.Ramunas Siskauskas who is very "hot" lately and Sani Becirovic will try to give the lead to the home team from the first minutes of the game. Also an interesting fight will take place inside the basket.Argentinian star Luis Scola, maybe the best non-american power forward of the world versus the big men of Panathinaikos Michael Batiste,Dejan Tomasevic,Kostas Tsartsaris and Robertas Javtokas.Of course Scola will have the help of the talented Tiaggo Splitter.Teletovic and Kaya Peker will come from the bench and give solutions in case that their teammates will need them.
The last days everybody wonders if the pressure of the greek supporters will affect in a negative or in a positive way the greek team.Personally i believe that if Panathinaikos take the lead in the score from the first minutes of the game then the pressure of the fans will not be a problem any more. After all we talk about a team with experienced players and of course an amazing coach who has been in many final-four and earned lots of titles.
It is sure that Tau will try to lead the game in a fast tempo.Offense is the biggest weapon of the spanish team.Coach Malkovic who replaced Velimir Perasovic a few months ago tried to change the philosophy of the team but he had problems to persuade his players to start playing strong defense. On the other hand Panathinaikos is also good in offense by scoring 82 points per game this year but also in its roster there are players with excellent defensive skills.A fast tempo i think will force Tau's guards to make a lot of mistakes tomorrow.
Also coach Obradovic will try to create a foul-problem to Luis Scola.Tiaggo Splitter is very talented but i do not really know if he is capable to give solutions to his team. After all he is just 22 years old and the game vs Pao is crusial.Mirsa Teletovic and Kaya Peker are also good but not better than Javtokas and Tsartsaris.
I will take Panathinaikos here with a 7/10 stake but mainly i want to see a great game between these great teams. So just sit comfortably and enjoy.
